2024 OVGA City and District Championship Winners

Mother Nature did not spare the 2024 OVGA City and District Championship on July 15th, 16th and 17th.
On July 15th at Carleton Golf & Yacht Club, the women teed off first, and managed to get their 18 holes finished before the rumblings in the sky started. The men were called off the course, waited for the threat of lightning to pass and were sent back out. They were soon called off again, and Day 1 of the event became a 9-hole event for the men.

Unfortunately, Day 2 at Brockville Country Club didn’t fare any better. Players were called off the course at 1:30 pm, with no one completing 18 holes. At 3:30 pm, the rules officials decided that we had a window of opportunity to have the entire field complete 9 holes. The men and the women were able to complete 9 holes, and Day 2 was based on a 9-hole score. We thank our officials for placing the safety of our players above finishing a tournament. It is not always an easy or popular decision to make.

In the two-day event for the B Class men, Ryan Ladouceur of Carleton Golf & Yacht Club took 1st place, winning the S.M.F. "Swatty" Wotherspoon Memorial Trophy. Eric Irons from Club EG placed 2nd in low gross and 1st in low net.
