December 9, 2025 (Ottawa, Ontario) - The Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) is pleased to announce its sixth class of inductees into the OVGA Hall of Fame. We welcome Lyle Alexander, John Haime, and Andre Harvey in the Player Category, as well as Jean Stone-Seguin in the Builder Category.

The OVGA Hall of Fame was established in 2021 to recognize, honour, and perpetuate the memory of individuals and organizations that have made a significant and positive contribution to golf in the area served by the Association. Inductees include players, both amateur and professional, as well as builders within the area served by the Association.

"Our sixth class of inductees in the OVGA Hall of Fame in 2026 recognizes golfers who have excelled in our sport and those who give back to the game”, said OVGA Hall of Fame Co-Chair Dru Lafave. “I have great respect and admiration for Lyle Alexander, John Haime, and Andre Harvey, three players with outstanding golf careers, and Jean Stone-Seguin in the Builder category, who has dedicated significant time and effort over many years supporting competitive golf. It is also a real pleasure and a humbling experience to be Co-Chair of the OVGA Hall of Fame Committee."

Full Inductee profiles will be posted on the OVGA Virtual Hall of Fame website at ovga.org for each of the 2026 OVGA Hall of Fame Inductees.

LYLE ALEXANDER

Early on in his golf career, Lyle had set two goals - one to win a club championship, and two, to shoot his age. Lyle has achieved both goals in abundance.

Lyle has won 36 club championships at the Outaouais (now Rockland), Carleton, Mississippi, and Greensmere Golf Clubs over seven decades. He has now also shot his age or better 359 times, beginning in his 68th year in 2014 when he shot his age twice at Greensmere. Along the way, Lyle has also recorded 7 holes-in-one.

In his senior years, Lyle, between 2001 and 2015, won 10 Field Days, 3 Senior City & District Championships, and 3 Senior Tournament of Club Champions Championships in OVGA competition.

Lyle has also given back to the game he holds near and dear to his heart by serving on various committees at the various clubs where he has been a member. With the Ottawa Valley Golf Association, he has served as a rules official in local and provincial events.

JOHN HAIME

John Haime established himself as a top Canadian golf talent through a consistent career marked by victories at every level of competitive golf. As a junior standout, he dominated the provincial scene, notably winning 10 of 13 tournaments entered in a single season at age 17 and capturing the Quebec Provincial Junior Championship. His junior and amateur play earned him provincial Player of the Year honors twice, and the Quebec Provincial Amateur title in 1985. Local, provincial, and national success led to a full athletic scholarship at Purdue University, where he excelled in NCAA Division 1 competition, playing every event over four years, securing individual and team victories, and earning team MVP and Purdue University sports honors. Transitioning to the professional ranks in 1986, Haime proved his elite status by finishing as co-medalist at the Canadian PGA Tour Qualifying School against top talent. He went on to compete globally, recording four professional wins, and several top 10 finishes on professional tours and professional events internationally before a hand injury on the 1989 Asian PGA Circuit slowed progress from full-time competition.

John estimates that in total in his junior, amateur, NCAA, and professional career, he has won 45 events, 20 of those as a professional. This is over the period from 1977 (age 15) to 1991 (Age 29). John played his last competitive golf event in 1991, winning the PGA of Ottawa Zone Championship.

Haime’s impact extends far beyond the scorecard, defined by his enduring legacy in the Ottawa community and his current expertise in human mental performance. His trailblazing NCAA success created a vital pipeline that allowed other young Ottawa golfers to follow in his footsteps and secure education at US schools. Deeply committed to philanthropy, he partnered with the Ottawa PGA to co-direct the Serge Giroux Golf Dream for 19 years, raising over $1.4 million to provide unique "dream of a lifetime" experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses from CHEO. Today, Haime leverages his vast experience as a world-class Human Mental Performance Coach for elite athletes and has authored two popular books in the sport and business communities, You are a Contender and Ride Big, dedicated to building mental and emotional muscle in competitors.
